Art Camp for Kids
Date: Week of July 17-21
Time: 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM
This camp is for rising 5th to rising 8th graders. Campers will learn fundamental art concepts and experiment with engaging new processes with drawing, painting and mixed media. Your child is sure to have fun and develop confidence in their artistic abilities, working with chalk and oil pastels, colored pencils, markers, acrylic paint, found objects and more. They will all create an 11x15" portfolio of art work that they will be proud of! These prints can also be used for wall decor'!
Instructor Linda Powell has an undergraduate degree in Art History and a Masters degree in Art Education. She taught art to middle school students in Loudoun County Public Schools for four years. During that time she started her own mural painting business and soon found herself doing decorative painting in model homes full-time. She did this for 15 years. Since then she has been a docent at the National Gallery of Art, giving tours to school-aged children. She is currently working for Fairfax County Public Schools and teaches art for Young Rembrandts enrichment programs. Linda is excited to create her own art curriculum this summer and do one of her favorite things: share her love of art with children! Students should bring: a willingness to experiment. Everything else is provided.
